Friederich Kleist

Friederich KleistPrussian General
1762-1823

An experienced commander who had fought in the Revolutionary Wars, Friedrich Kleist was a brave and trusted soldier.

During the War of German Liberation in 1813, Kleist was one of Prussia's leading lights on the field.

He fought well at Bautzen and later at Leipzig, where his corps was engaged in intense fighting, and won victory at Kulm.

Originally picked to lead the Prussian army during the 100 Days' Campaign, Kleist was eventually replaced by Field Marshal Blucher.
